HITLER AND WE
The following is an unabridged transcript of remarks by Matt Koehl, Commander of the NEW ORDER, before a gathering of Midwest comrades in April 1992 on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the Leader's birth. The proposition advanced here establishes the causal relationship between today's reality and the person of Adolf Hitler and His immortal cause.
On this occasion, we are gathered to celebrate a very special birthday. What makes it special is the fact that but for the advent of this particular individual, we would not have come together as comrades in common cause. Indeed, it is the consciousness of the living presence of this person and what He represents that makes us aware of our own true identity. I am speaking, of course, of the extraordinary figure of our age—the One who came to remind the world of the eternal laws of life, the One who fought and died so that Aryan man might live, the author of our Faith and architect of our future, the greatest figure of all time—the man born in Braunau on the 20th of April 1889: Adolf Hitler! Today the world that fought against this man and His New Order stands condemned. It is condemned because it fought against Nature. It fought against the Almighty—against God! All the monumental problems and crises of the modern world are, in fact, a direct result of its rejection of this singular gift of Providence. Adolf Hitler didn't lose the Second World War. That other world lost. By its wanton and evil act, it established a causative principle which has brought about the present world condition. What is happening in the world today—everything going wrong—is merely a result of the war against Hitler. The general decline of the West which we see is not the result of any sort of specious historical determinism, but rather of definite causal factors. And this decadence and corruption of the modern world cannot escape the just retribution of a Providence that has been mocked once too often by mortal pretenders. Already, the British Empire has been destroyed. The Soviet Union has collapsed. The only anti-Hitler power still standing is the United States—and its days are numbered. In this collapsing world, however, Aryan man does have one great hope: Adolf Hitler and His mighty cause! Through the simple honesty and moral fortitude to admit this fact, we can still recover our future and our destiny. And so it is the task and duty of every National Socialist to help raise this truth to the highest level of consciousness among all those who are concerned about their race and its future. * * * Here it is necessary to understand the real meaning of Hitler's mission. We recall the numinous scene upon the Freinberg, which is so poignantly described by Hitler's boyhood friend, August Kubizek, in which the future Leader sees His fate laid out before Him as someone who—like the Roman tribune, Rienzi—is called to fight and die for his people. Four decades later, Adolf Hitler was to consummate His earthly destiny. As the Bolshevik hordes besieged His bunker there on the frontlines in Berlin in 1945, the Leader uttered these fateful words: "It is necessary that I should die for my people; but my Spirit shall rise from the grave, and the world will know that I was right." Even today, few comrades have grasped the full significance of these words. If they had, they would not—they could not—lose faith. They would not—could not—lose hope. They would not—could not—despair. For what the Leader is, in fact, announcing here is a whole new dispensation. He is showing us the way we are to go. A new dispensation: an ending and a new beginning. The closing of one chapter, and the opening of another. Without understanding this dispensation, one cannot understand the dynamism of the living phenomenon represented by Adolf Hitler. Then all professed sympathy for His cause becomes nothing more than inane nostalgia, sterile affectation—a parody. Now, this dispensation has several consequences: First, the human, historical figure of the Leader has been transfigured and has become an immortal symbol. Secondly, the localized concept of National Socialism as a German phenomenon has been broadened and consecrated as a pan-Aryan idea. Through the suffering and sacrifice of Adolf Hitler and the German people—and all those other brave Europeans who joined them—the watchword "Ein Volk / ein Reich / ein Führer" assumes a new and wider meaning. Thirdly, this new dispensation has transformed the dynamics of the National Socialist movement from the political and military to the spiritual and the religious. With the destruction of the National Socialist state in 1945, all viable political and military options were removed. But while the outward structure of power was destroyed, the inner core of National Socialism—its spiritual substance—remained intact. The Idea as such was not, and could never be, defeated. And today the superiority of its ideals stands in stark contrast to those of a diseased and degenerate world which the Old Order has given us. As I have said, we are now without a credible political or military option. That is why all attempts to form "parties" and engage in political activity under the prevailing system have failed and will continue to fail. And that is why all the pretense and posturing and talk of private weaponry and paramilitary adventures is silly and ludicrous. Adolf Hitler clearly recognized all of this in 1945, when He declared that although the role of National Socialism as a political movement was ending, the Idea would be reborn in the coming century as a new religion. This coming Faith was also alluded to on many occasions by His great champion and disciple, Lincoln Rockwell. And so our task today is not to draft beautiful political programs—which we are incapable of implementing anyway—but to proclaim a revolutionary new faith. We are to tell the world a very simple message: namely, that Adolf Hitler was right! He was right when He raised the banner of Aryan truth against alien corruption and lies. He was right when He proclaimed anew the eternal laws of life to a world which had forgotten. He was right when He opposed the crass materialism of both communism and finance capitalism. He was right when He gave a hungry, humiliated people work and bread and raised it up. He was right when He showed mankind a better way. He was right when He gave the world a vision of a nobler future. He was right when He sought peace among the peoples of Europe and the world. He was right when He fought against overwhelming odds for that which is right and true. He was right when He gave His life for a better world to come. Yes, indeed. Hitler was right! And not only was He right, but He is right. His message of racial idealism is every bit as relevant and vital today is it was when it was first announced. * * * What we are fighting for is more than the mere survival of the white race. We are fighting for a higher order of things. We are fighting against the forces of decadence and chaos in this universe. Today the white race is not worthy. It has allowed itself to be degraded. It has allowed its soul to become corrupted and its blood polluted. It has become decadent and degenerate. It is not even willing to fight for its own survival. In its present condition it is doomed. It is under a sentence of death. There is only one person who can commute that sentence—and that is Adolf Hitler. Unless the white race can find its way to the Leader, it is lost. Unless it is willing to accept His message, it is nothing more than rabble and doesn't deserve to exist. We must have no illusions. It is not for a degenerate race that we are fighting. We are fighting for something better. We are fighting for a new folk, a regenerate folk. We are fighting for a New Order, which will one day rise above the ruins of a decadent Old Order. We are fighting for Adolf Hitler and His cause. Comrades, you and I are part of something special. We are privileged to belong to the Movement of Adolf Hitler, to His NEW ORDER. We are part of His Gefolgschaft—His great retinue. In olden times, every Aryan king and chief had his retinue—his body of loyal warriors, who were pledged and committed to him unto death. Our Leader also has such a retinue. And so today, as thousands of candles are being lit around the country and around the world in honor of the Leader's birth, let us join that mighty band, as we rededicate ourselves to Adolf Hitler and to His holy cause.
