BESTSELLER OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON

Mein Kampf tops
Harry Potter in Portugal

LISBON — The Portuguese capital is abuzz over news that Mein Kampf has become number one bestseller in the country, selling more copies this week than both Chronicles Of Narnia and Harry Potter combined—both with two movies at theaters and major marketing campaigns.

The media and politicians are stunned by news of the book's astounding success. Although it is illegal to publish Mein Kampf in Portugal, and despite the fact that it is not displayed openly on bookshelves, imported copies from Brazil can be purchased under the counter at major stores.

What is especially amazing is the fact that a copy of Mein Kampf costs three times as much 47 euros ($56 US) as its nearest rivals, which sell for 16 euros ($19 US) each—this in a country in recession, where 47 euros is the cost of food for two weeks! Most purchasers are low-income citizens.

Once again, Adolf Hitler
has emerged as best-selling author.
