CORPORATION YIELDS TO JEWISH PRESSURE
BBC
suppresses program
LONDON—Under intense pressure from the Jewish community in Britain, BBC television canceled a documentary film on Israel's weapons of mass destruction scheduled for viewing on its No. 2 TV channel during prime time Sunday. The decision to pull "Israel's Secret Weapon" from mass viewingwas taken by BBC's director-general Greg Dyke without explanation, following shrieking front-page headlines in The Jewish Chronicle on Friday. Dyke is a colleague of media and entertainment mogul Michael Levy, who became a "Lord" and Tony Blair's personal envoy to the Middle East after the current prime minister came to power. The film reveals the extent of Israel's vast array of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear bombs, chemical and bological weapons, etc., and the missiles able of delivering them anywhere in the Middle East—as well as into the heart of Europe!—all the things Iraq is accused of having (but does not) but in far greater measure. BBC telephone lines have been jammed with calls of protest against suppression of the story. As a concession to critics, the program will now be shown late tonight—at 11:20 p.m. Israel's nuclear capacity is in contravention of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and of frequent Israeli government denials that is has any such capacity. The Jewish state has consistently refused to allow international inspectors to verify its disarmament claims.
