ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates—Harsh criticism, along with several anti-Semitic slurs, were leveled against Jews and Israel at the opening session of a "seminar on Semitism" that convened in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Mohammad Khalifa Al-Murar, Executive Director of the Zayed Center for Coordination and Follow-up (ZCCF), the group which organized the gathering, asserted that Jews are not Semites and "have nothing to do with Semitism or Palestine."

Declaring that Jews "control the print and electronic media," Al-Murar said that although they claim to be God's chosen people, "the truth is they are the enemies of all nations. Most philosophers . . . consider Jews as cheaters whose greed knows no bounds."

Dr. Ahmad Saleem Jarad, personal representative of Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, condemned "Zionist terrorism" and accused Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of "perpetrating terrorist activities against innocent Palestinian civilians."
